Is Loci really free?
Yes. Loci is free to download and use on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. There are no subscriptions, no ads, and nothing to unlock.
Does Loci work without internet?
Yes. Download a model once over Wi-Fi and chat keeps working with no connection at all — in airplane mode, abroad, or in dead zones. Optional web search is the only feature that needs the internet.
Are my conversations private?
Yes. Chat is processed on your device and is not uploaded. There is no account, no server-side copy of your conversations, and no training on your words.
Which AI models does Loci run?
Loci can chat with Apple's built-in foundation model or download from 10+ curated open-source models, including Gemma, Qwen, Llama, and Phi — all running locally on your device.
Free with no ads — what's the catch?
There isn't one. Loci runs open-source models on the chip already in your device, so there are no server bills to pass on to you. We don't sell ads, and we can't see your conversations — they never reach us. We built Loci because we think capable AI should be a public good.
